Privacy policy
Last updated: April 2026
Cookie turns the moments you've already captured on your iPhone into short videos. We built it around a simple promise: your photos stay on your phone. This page explains what that means and what data Cookie does collect.
What stays on your device
- Your camera roll. Cookie uses Apple's Photos framework with the access you grant at onboarding. Originals never leave your iPhone.
- Photos flagged by our on-device filter as screenshots, IDs, sensitive content, or anything not safe for processing. These never leave your device.
- Your taps — which cooks you keep, share, reject, or skip. These help personalize what you see and stay on your device.
What Cookie collects
To create your videos, Cookie processes selected photos and sends a small amount of data to its providers:
- Selected photos: downsized images that pass the on-device filter, used only to build your videos.
- Audio from Live Photos: used for transcription when you've enabled it in Settings.
- Anonymous identifier: a random ID generated on your device. We don't ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- Anonymous usage signals: aggregate counts of kept / shared / skipped cooks to improve the product. No photos. No transcripts. No personal information.
What Cookie does not do
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't show you third-party ads.
- We don't read your contacts, messages, calendar, location history, health data, or financial data.
- We don't use your photos to train AI models. Our processing providers are contractually prohibited from doing so as well.
Your controls
- Settings → Privacy → Audio transcription — turn off to skip processing of Live Photo audio.
- Settings → Privacy → AI motion synthesis — turn off to skip generated motion.
- Settings → Account → Stop and purge — clears all local data and revokes your device key.
- iOS Settings → Cookie → Photos — adjust which photos Cookie can see at any time.
Children
Cookie is not directed at children under 13. The on-device filter flags photos that appear to contain minors as sensitive and excludes them from processing.
Changes
If we materially change this policy we'll notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
